Transformative projects shortlisted for Q Exchange

We're thrilled to announce that two fantastic projects spearheaded by teams within Cardiff and Vale UHB's Shaping Change team have been shortlisted for the prestigious Q Exchange funding programme!

The Q Exchange is a remarkable opportunity for Q members to secure funding for innovative ideas that have the potential to improve healthcare. Each year, Q members submit proposals outlining improvement projects, with the chance to secure up to £40,000 funding to bring their project to life. This year, amidst fierce competition (with 189 initial submissions!), two of our very own projects have reached the final 30!

Project 1: Developing a specialist Adult ADHD service for Cardiff and Vale

Katie Griffiths’ project tackles the challenge of timely and accurate adult ADHD diagnosis. Her proposal focuses on developing a dedicated, standardised pathway that utilises the QbTest. This innovative approach aims to achieve several key goals:

  • Reduced waiting times: By implementing a streamlined process, patients will experience shorter wait times for diagnosis.

  • Enhanced diagnostic quality: The standardised pathway ensures consistent and reliable diagnosis, leading to improved patient outcomes.

  • Reduced concerns and complaints: Faster and more accurate diagnoses will alleviate patient concerns and complaints, freeing up resources for further service expansion.

Project 2: Building a value tracker to enable patient-centred value-based and sustainable care

The project spearheaded by Kate Blower and Magda Golebiowska delves into the realm of value-based healthcare (VBHC). Their proposal outlines the development of a comprehensive value tracker. This tracker will function as a powerful tool, drawing data from multiple sources to deliver invaluable insights.

This project aims to develop a central data tracker to connect information from various sources into a single, reliable system. This will enable:

  • Data-driven decisions: Healthcare teams can make data-informed choices about patient care and project direction.

  • Improved patient outcomes: Decisions will be tailored to patient needs and goals, potentially leading to better results.

  • Reduced health inequalities: Data can be used to identify areas with higher needs and target resources accordingly.

The Power of Your Vote!

While reaching the final 30 is a significant achievement, only 20 projects will ultimately secure funding. This is where your support comes in! We urge all Q Community members to consider these exceptional projects when casting their top 5 votes on the Q Exchange platform by June 12th.

By voting for these projects, you'll be playing a vital role in shaping the future of healthcare for our region. Let's show our Cardiff and Vale UHB teams the support they deserve and help them secure the funding needed to turn their innovative ideas into reality!
